- Shafiqullah Shaiq is a veteran media leader, media entrepreneur, and founder of Shaiq Network Media Center, a prominent private media initiative serving Afghan audiences. Since 1995, he has been actively involved in media development, education, and public communication, playing an important role in strengthening independent media and civic awareness in Afghanistan.
At the beginning of his career, Mr. Shaiq focused on education and capacity building, establishing training programs that have successfully educated and trained more than 20,000 students in computer and English studies, as well as over 1,600 journalists across Afghanistan. These programs contributed significantly to building professional skills and strengthening the country’s emerging media sector.
Throughout his career, he has implemented and contributed to more than 225 development and media-related projects in cooperation with international organizations and partners. These initiatives were carried out with the support of institutions including the United States Government, the U.S. Embassy, NATO, the U.S. Army, Provincial Reconstruction Teams (PRT), the United Nations, UNAMA, UNICEF, and the Embassies of the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia.
The projects covered a wide range of areas including democracy promotion, human rights, anti-corruption initiatives, counter-narcotics awareness, migration issues, public health, public service announcements (PSAs), constitutional awareness, and strengthening the relationship between government institutions and the public.
Much of this work was implemented through media production, broadcasting, journalism training, and communication campaigns, helping deliver critical information and educational programming to communities across the country. Under his leadership, numerous media initiatives were produced, including documentary films, television programs, dramas, and public awareness campaigns, many of which were distributed through national media platforms.
In addition to media production and broadcasting, Mr. Shaiq has been deeply engaged in education, professional training, and media capacity-building programs, contributing to the development of Afghanistan’s media professionals and communication infrastructure.
With nearly three decades of experience, Shafiqullah Shaiq continues to promote responsible journalism, independent media development, and public awareness initiatives that connect Afghan society with global perspectives.

Shallah Shaiq is an Afghan journalist, women’s rights advocate, and social activist with more than 15 years of experience in media, women empowerment, and community development. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law (2017), a Journalism Certificate (2013), and a Project Management certification from Montgomery College. She is a VV Visionary and Aghaaz Fellow with Vital Voices and the Afghan-American Women’s Association (A-AWA).
Shallah co-founded the Shaiq Network home to Sharq Radio and Sharq TV and founded and Voice of Women Radio, which became influential platforms for advancing women’s rights and social justice in Afghanistan.
In 2009, she established the HEELA Organization to support women’s empowerment and survivors of gender-based violence. Through legal aid services, emergency support, training programs, and a 24/7 hotline, HEELA has responded to thousands of women in crisis. Separately, Shallah has led educational and vocational training programs that have reached over 21 000 students, including women and youth, in computer skills, English, journalism, and agriculture.
Now based in the United States, Shallah draws from both professional expertise and personal experience as a resettled Afghan woman to lead advocacy efforts that span across borders. Her work supports Afghan women both in the U.S. and in Afghanistan—focusing on economic integration, educational access, and assistance for survivors of gender-based violence. Through community programs and international partnerships, she continues to empower women navigating displacement, recovery, and opportunity.
Rooted in resilience and justice, Shallah continues to create inclusive spaces where women can lead, heal, and thrive across borders and generations.

- Henna shaiq who is multilingual has a bachelor’s of Political Science and Public Administration from the American University of Afghanistan and a minor in law. Currently, She is seeking JD in the United States. She has more than five years of experience in journalism, leadership, media, communications, and Marketing. she was recognized as a recipient of the Honor Award, worked for human rights and women’s equality through journalism, Collaborated with government officials as Vice President of the Political Science Club, Served as Afghan Youth Representative at the South Asian Youth Conference, Led conversation and published paper on transitional justice in collaboration with Leipzig University and worked with the NSC in the media and communication’s department.

- Marshal (Halime) – Media Personality, Academic, and Social Activist
- Marshal (Halime), son of Halim-ul-Haq, is a prominent Afghan media personality, university lecturer, and social activist from Dara Noor District of Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan. With years of experience in journalism, media management, and academic engagement, he is widely recognized as one of the active cultural and intellectual figures in eastern Afghanistan.
- He completed his primary and secondary education at Wazir Mohammad Gul Khan High School in Nangarhar and graduated in 1996. He later pursued higher education at Nangarhar University, Faculty of Languages and Literature, where he studied Pashto Language and Literature and obtained his Bachelor’s degree in 2008.
- Marshal (Halime) began his professional media career during his university years. He joined the Shaiq Media Center and served as the Deputy Editor of the Shaiq Newspaper. This role marked the beginning of his professional journey in journalism and media.
- In 2009, he was appointed as the Managing Director of Sharq Radio, where he played a key role in strengthening and expanding the station’s professional operations at the regional level. Under his leadership, the radio station significantly improved its programming and outreach.
- Later, he expanded his media activities through Sharq Television, where he designed, produced, and presented a range of social, cultural, news, and political programs. His work contributed to the development of independent and informative media content in the region.
- Since 2014, Marshal (Halime) has been hosting a political television program titled “Nann Khabare” (Today’s Talks) on Sharq Television. The program focuses on major political, social, and economic issues affecting Afghanistan, featuring discussions and analysis with experts, analysts, and public figures.
- Alongside his media career, he has also been active in academia. Marshal (Halime) served as a lecturer at Alfalah Private University in Nangarhar, where he taught courses related to language, literature, and media studies.

- Rahmatullah Shaiq is the Afghan Parolee Community Coordinator for the APA program at HIAS. Before joining HIAS in November 2021, he was a project manager at Shaiq Network, leading multiple projects for the U.S Government in Afghanistan. These projects’ primary role was to create Civic engagement with the government through Media and roundtable programs. Prior to that, he was a public relations officer and the Social Media Manager at Shaiq Network. In Addition, he has worked as an IT manager for a Radio network in Kabul, Afghanistan. Alongside his career, he worked with a nonprofit organization and helped provide aid to newly arrived immigrants with shelter, housing, and other resources. Mr. Shaiq has also organized multiple tournaments with the primary message being peace in Afghanistan by hosting a Cricket tournament for the youth and a football tournament. Mr. Shaiq was a student at the American University of Afghanistan and has transferred to The University of Maryland to pursue his bachelor’s in Business Administration. Outside of his job, Mr. Shaiq is creating programs in Afghanistan to highlight the daily struggles of the Afghan population online.’

Mr. Rahmani has published articles, analyzes, reports, and literary articles in a variety of journals in eastern Afghanistan including Sharq Magazine. 1. Narcissus Breaths This one is his first published work. This identity has been collected and written by Shafiqullah Rahmani and it was published by Nargi’s radio in the year 1391 in Nangarhar. This identity represents the biographies and poetics examples of 62 female poets from the eastern regions of present Afghanistan. The number of pages is 174. The majority of these poets are born in the last decade (2001-2011) whose emotions are young and warm. This identity was published in 2,000 volumes in Kabul. 2. Journalism Guide This is also another unpublished work that discusses the foundations of journalism, genres, ethics, and various journalistic topics. 3. The History of Pashto Literature This textbook is an unpublished work that covers the Pashto language and literature from past to present. 4. You Were Disloyal This is an unpublished novel and its content covers different aspects of social life like love, hate, helplessness, and other problems of society. 5. Research It is also a textbook which is not been published yet. It contains the best topics on general research and literary research in particular. 6. Folklore and Children’s Literature This is a university textbook work that is being taught as a chapter but it’s ready to be printed. This work was also the subject of his master’s thesis. At the beginning of the book, folklore, folkloric, and children’s literature have been discussed. 7. Identity of Students’ Poets This literary identity contains the poetry of children who are studying in various schools. It was done with the collaboration of UNICEF, the Department of Education, and Sharq TV in Nangarhar. In addition to Mr. Rahmani’s above mentioned published and unpublished works and writings, daily writing is a journalistic genre, which is consisting headlines, news, reports, or different scripts for publications, but these journalistic writings are commonly no longer existed and get disappeared as soon as the broadcasts finish. Over the course of his 15-year career, he has written hundreds of scripts but when the broadcast has finished, they have vanished. Mr. Rahmani writes when it is needed and he is very interested to write. But in the least deal of time, he has the ability and interest to write political, literary, and social topics but owing to lack of time, he only writes the necessary topics related to his own affairs.

Shamsur Rahman Sahibzada is an experienced Afghan journalist and media professional with nearly fourteen years of experience in television, radio, and public communications. Throughout his career, he has developed strong expertise in various fields of journalism, including news production and presentation, hosting television and radio programs, and producing field reports.
Mr. Sahibzada currently serves as a reporter for Sharq Television, where he covers important events and developments related to regional affairs. His work focuses on delivering accurate information and highlighting issues that impact local communities.
In pursuit of professional excellence, he has actively participated in numerous national and international training workshops, seminars, and professional development programs. These trainings have focused on advanced journalism skills, media management, interview techniques, and media ethics.
Mr. Sahibzada believes that media plays a vital role in raising public awareness, disseminating information, and contributing to positive change within society.

Najeebullah Sahel is an experienced Afghan journalist and media professional with more than fifteen years of experience in television, radio, and public relations. Over the course of his career, he has developed extensive expertise in news production, television and radio hosting, reporting, and media management.
Mr. Sahel currently serves as the Broadcasting Manager and Journalist at Sharq Television, where he plays a key role in news preparation, program production, and promoting public awareness through media platforms.
Throughout his professional career, he has also worked as a reporter, program producer, and news officer, gaining valuable experience across various areas of journalism and media operations.
To further strengthen his professional skills, Mr. Sahel has participated in numerous national and international training workshops, seminars, and capacity building programs. These trainings have focused on advanced journalism practices, media management, professional news production, interview techniques, and media ethics.
Mr. Sahel believes that media plays a vital role in raising public awareness and promoting positive change in society. Through his programs and reports, he strives to deliver accurate information to the public while highlighting important social issues.
