Media Network
Shaiq Network is a diverse media organization that was established on August 20th, 1996. Since its inception, the organization has been actively involved in a range of philanthropic non-profit and for-profit projects in the fields of Health, Engineering, Education, and Media in eastern Afghanistan. It is owned by Shafiqullah Shaiq, and its headquarters are located in the Nangarhar province of Afghanistan.
One of the components of Shaiq Network is Sharq Radio Television, which encompasses both a radio and a TV station. Sharq Radio, established in 2003, holds the distinction of being the first private radio station in the eastern region. Over the years, it has garnered a wide listenership and gained recognition from various international organizations. Sharq Radio not only broadcasts on-air but also reaches its audience through online streaming and daily live broadcasts on Facebook.
Sharq Television, established in 2008, is also recognized as the first private TV station in the eastern region. Operating 24 hours a day, Sharq TV has a decade of experience in producing educational content, news shows, dramas, and entertainment programs. The channel also regularly broadcasts hourly news updates and current affairs programs specifically tailored for the eastern zone. The majority of Sharq TV’s programs (90%) are conducted in the Pashto language. Notably, the channel has established a strong online presence with an active Facebook page and a YouTube channel that receives daily uploads, reaching an impressive weekly video viewership of over 700,000.
Overall, Shaiq Network and its components, Sharq Radio and Sharq TV, have made significant contributions to media broadcasting and have gained a reputable position in the eastern region of Afghanistan.

Sharq News
The Sharq News Team comprises a diverse group of professionals, including journalists, editors, reviewers, a news manager, and cameramen. They diligently gather news from different provinces across Afghanistan. The team is responsible for producing various types of news content, including local, provincial, national, and international news.
The news reports compiled by the team are broadcasted daily at 6:00 PM on Sharq TV and Sharq Radio. Subsequently, these reports are uploaded to the organization’s Facebook page and YouTube channel to extend their reach on social media platforms. The news segments are also re-aired at 8:00 PM, 12:00 PM, 03:00 AM, 7:00 AM, and 10:00 AM, allowing viewers and listeners to access the news at different times throughout the day.
The Sharq News Team operates as part of the larger Shaiq Network, contributing to its media endeavors and serving as a vital component in delivering timely and comprehensive news coverage to the audience.

Construction of Media Headquarters:
In 2006, the network constructed a four-story building covering an area of 2000 square meters in Jalalabad city. This purpose-built structure serves as a centralized hub, catering to all media-related activities and fulfilling the diverse needs of the clients. Within this building, all operations of the network are seamlessly conducted, providing a convenient one-stop shop for all media services.
Nargis Radio
Established on September 11th, 2007, Nargis FM is a women-run radio station dedicated to women’s issues. Its primary objective is to produce and broadcast programs that focus on the social lives of women in Afghan society, promoting awareness of their role in community development. Nargis FM is the only radio station operated by women journalists, specifically catering to women’s needs. Its main goals are to educate and empower women, enabling them to overcome social challenges they face.
Nargis FM operates with a 600W Transmitter and a 5000 WT DePaul Antenna, installed on an 85-meter-tall tower. It can be accessed locally at 92.4 MHz and also offers internet live streaming for wider reach and accessibility.
The radio station has set several goals and objectives, including:
- Increasing the literacy rate among women.
- Highlighting the significant role of women in social development.
- Providing guidance to women in their daily affairs.
- Addressing the challenges faced by women.
- Promoting positive Afghan culture and offering Islamic guidance.
- Serving as a communication bridge between the government and the people.
Through its programming and initiatives, Nargis FM aims to empower and uplift Afghan women while fostering positive social change in the community.
Film Production
Established on August 20th, 2004, this unit has a specific focus on promoting the culture of tolerance, national unity, and combating negative social customs prevalent in Afghanistan. Its inaugural production was a film titled “Black Poison,” which was released in 2005. The primary objective of this film was to instill a culture of opposition to terrorism, drug addiction, poppy cultivation, and smuggling.
To ensure widespread access and impact, the unit distributed 20,000 copies of the film free of charge. This dissemination aimed to reach a broad audience and create awareness about the harmful effects of these social issues. By addressing such pressing concerns, the unit sought to contribute to the betterment of Afghan society and foster positive change in the community.

Community Development and Welfare
Promoting the culture of sports:
In 2005, the Network organized a cricket tournament that brought together teams from 22 districts and the top 10 teams of Nangarhar province. The tournament showcased the talent and skills of the participants, and the winning team was honored with several prizes, including a prestigious gold cup.
In 2006, an exciting running race in the form of a marathon was organized, covering a distance of 10 kilometers. The event drew the participation of three hundred runners, each showcasing their endurance and athleticism. The marathon provided a platform for individuals to challenge themselves and promote a culture of physical fitness and sportsmanship in the community.
