Nargis Radio 92.4 FM
Established on September 11th, 2007, Nargis FM is a radio station specifically run by women for women. It is dedicated to producing and broadcasting programs that primarily focus on the social lives of women in Afghan society. The radio station aims to raise awareness about the significant role women play in community development. Nargis FM is the only radio station operated by women journalists, catering exclusively to women’s needs. Its primary focus is on educating and empowering women, enabling them to overcome social challenges they face.
Nargis FM operates with a 600W transmitter and a 5000 WT DePaul Antenna installed on an 85-meter-tall tower. It can be accessed locally at 92.4 MHz and also offers internet live streaming for broader reach and accessibility.
Through its programming, Nargis FM endeavors to provide women with valuable knowledge, empowerment, and support, helping them overcome social obstacles. By fostering a platform for women’s voices and perspectives, Nargis FM contributes to the overall progress and well-being of women in Afghan society.
Goals and Objectives: •

Nargis Radio, despite operating with a limited budget and a small team, successfully produces programs that contribute to its journey toward success. The team comprises 15 dedicated women journalists, working closely with the director.
Each team member has undergone journalism training, seminars, workshops, and development programs offered by Shaiq Network. This comprehensive training equips them with the necessary skills to independently record, edit, and broadcast their own programs.
The broadcasting department of Nargis Radio is highly active, ensuring programs, commercials, and messages from different network departments are aired on time and according to schedule. This efficiency and attention to detail contribute to the overall success of the radio station.

Free media is one of the past thirteen years’ achievements. Many of the barriers in culture, education, sports, languages, the Internet, and social activities are reduced significantly. Nargis Radio: Free media played an important role in public awareness; facing the challenges and how to deal with them. Media has covered many aspects of Afghan life. Media pointed out flaws to be corrected. It helped to indicate these problems to the nation
and the international community.
Today, there are fifty different radio and TV stations in Nangarhar Province. It indicates that people in this region follow media for their own information.
Nargis Radio is the first radio in eastern Afghanistan to cover women’s issues for women.
Nargis is run by women entirely. It is because Nargis aims to cover women’s issues by language. It tries to help women to understand or acquire life skills and about life on a regional level. It means the radio programs help women to standardize their life. Coordination: Nargis is in close coordination with the UNA, MBS, MTN, Etisalat, Salam Watandar, Women office in Nangarhar, and all other offices for a better understanding of radio
programs. Nargis lies on business commercials financially.
Women issues in women Language: Nargis FM radio is the only radio dedicated to women in this region. Through our programs we
advise women in their langue for a better life and their participation in the country’s improvement, opportunities, and challenges.
Prior to the radio programs, there were many taboos and toughness leaving women behind and completely non-exist existence but now it appears our programs helped to reduce all these tragedies, or in other words, we open women’s eyes.
Motivation toward Education: Nargis aims to preach education as a tool of change, education as a value to make women’s lives better
and enable them to take part in daily life outside their homes.

educational environment. At first mothers orient their offspring home and then they send them to schools. Research has shown that family-oriented or mother-backed students always do better in schools.

encourage women to take part in sports/games with their kids if they have time for their children. because children who have rich sports
background does better in school classes. Their education accuracy is a lot better compared to those who do not have a sports history.
Higher education can help women to be independent financially and also help them to achieve their primary opportunities. Education makes them better people. Their education can help them to get better jobs and have some income.
Such radio programs improve women’s life. These improvements bring in financial and psychological security, and they can play
an important role in the family economy. being on these jobs women better understand how to help their Afghan sisters.
Nargis Radio focuses on women’s status and airs programs to gain perfect respect for women in Afghan society. Higher education leads to self-confidence and can fill the gap in women’s numbers in offices, and other institutions.

knowing more about our society and facing our challenges while we are helpless. it has ruined women’s life in many sections. insecurity, women’s unemployment, the unstable Afghan economy, not having a strategy for basic solutions, and many other family and public issues affected women’s
life badly. All programs aim to help women so that they will be able to help themselves and others. Knowing their rights: Because of illiteracy, women have little understanding of their rights given. Property inheriting, Nikah,
education, and all other aspects that have a direct impact on their life are not cleared to women and even if cleared to them they do not know how to act accordingly to overcome such complicated dilemmas. Nargis is dedicated to many of Office (Fiqa) programs for women to their rights and to find answers to their curiosity about their rights. Knowing their responsibility: Radio programs are aimed to teach women their responsibility,
to manage their houses, to orient their children, to advise their kids and husbands, hospitality, treat family nicely, and if possible to help the family economy.
Stopping un-Islamic and other taboos: Nargis breaks all taboos putting Islam as a faith of most of the people in this region. It also helps women to understand their responsibility and challenges while Afghan women are banned from many basic rights. Their faith can help them to learn
about their rights and how to secure them. Ways to solve women’s problems: Radio listeners call us during the show and receive answers
through phones. Most of their problems and worries are shared with women’s affairs offices in the country.
Entertainment; Despite of many music programs the radio ai rs several others to show them where to go for refreshments. some programs
could be heard from the radio station and listeners can enjoy listening to the from home. It is all to release their stress and give them a hand of help to them forget about everything and entertain themselves.
Health: Health programs cover health and advise women about their health and how to prevent disease while how to cure others. Our health programs give details on human health and we interview experts for these programs.
Prolonged women’s unemployment and poverty hit women’s economic situation badly. poor education and other problems have a bad impact on
women’s health, family stress, home chores, and malnutrition cause health problems. All these problems decoupage them and all health programs aimed to teach women how and when to act to secure their life how to face a challenge before it turns into a problem.
Maintaining Afghan Culture: Research has shown that society is valued based on a rich culture and better civilization.
As much as society is rich in its culture and way of life means a better-civilized society. Luckily, Afghan women made Afghan
history and they become legends in our culture. Afghan women hold pride in many achievements in the economy, health,
